Career Goal: I am interested in pursuing a research-oriented career upon the completion of my Master’s degree. As a recipient of the SMART Scholarship for Service, I will be employed at a U.S. Department of Defense laboratory following graduation in May 2015.

Why you decided to study materials: I was inspired by my high school AP Calculus teacher to pursue an engineering degree in college. Within civil engineering, I am passionate about the development of sustainable structural materials as well as structural engineering. I enjoy the challenging nature of research and am motivated by the worthwhile goal of providing the construction industry with viable, sustainable alternatives to traditional infrastructure materials that are very detrimental to the environment.
